The Bobcats

FYI: According to the Charlotte Bobcats' Facebook page, the team slogan is "Prepare today, Own tomorrow."
A few things to note

  1. Unfortunately, the Bobcats can't even punctuate successfully (see Prepare today. Own tomorrow" Or "Prepare today, own tomorrow."
  2. Prepare = lose as many games as possible without a single entertaining / promising player on your roster. Truly horrible.
  3. Own = not sure what this means but I'm guessing that it doesn't mean losing 23 straight games and finishing a season as the worst team in the all-time history of the National Basketball Association
I hate the Bobcats. I hate how no fun they are. I hate the thought of possibly ever having to watch them on League Pass. I hate their colors. I hate their team name.
These last two might actually get better. Apparently, the new New Orleas Hornets owner wants to change the name of their franchise and MJ has hinted that his franchise would be interested in taking back the Hornets name. I'm all in on this idea. So is Grand Ma Ma.

By the way, speaking of the current New Orleans Hornets, Tas Melas of the Basketball Jones has mentioned that the team should just change its name to the Jazz despite there already being a little ol team called the Utah Jazz. Tas is not worried about this redundancy and neither am I. In fact, I think this would be awesome. How funny would it be if 1/15 of the American professional basketball teams had the same name? Better yet, there are literally millions of different things you could name a basketball team and somehow we could end up with two teams named, of all things, THE JAZZ!
ONLY IN AMERICA!
Anyway, back to the Bobcats, it seems like the only relevant "moment" they've had as a franchise has been their epic journey to being the worst team of all time. It's totally official now. They are the worst. No need to analyze further how bad of a team they have become; we can give up. In fact, their coach already has.

The worst part about Bobcats' path to horribleness might be the fact that they were not even losing any of these games on purpose. Scoop Jackson of ESPN has said that the team was definitely trying to win basketball games despite how it looked from the outside. And their owner has insisted that the team's losing this year was not part of a larger strategy to move up in the lottery.
Doesn't that make their losing even worse, though? It hasn't been part of some masterplan to land a franchise player, it's been through a systematic failure to put together a decent basketball team. After reaching the playoffs a few years ago, the team has gotten worse...and worse. This decline has even baffled their old coach, Larry Brown, who successfully burned another bridge this week after announcing the next job he'll be quitting.
I hate the Bobcats. I hate how no fun they are. I hate the thought of possibly ever having to watch them on League Pass. I guess I hate losing. But I thought Michael Jordan did, too.
